As had been anticipated by the meteorologists, it rained before the official start of the World Championship. So on a wet track the first group went out on track. How long would it rain for and how long would the track take to dry? As the drivers can’t do more than 6 laps in their session in these conditions, so the equation is complex!
The British drivers Chris Lock (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Jordon Lennox-Lamb (Birel / BMB) successively took the top spot, followed by the Belgian Benjamin Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex). Jorge Pescador (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Marco Moretti (Maranello / TM) completed the top five. Victor Sendin (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Enzo Guibbert (FA Kart / Vortex) were doing rather well in the 10th and 11th places. Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) was only 13th, Teemu Suninen (Maranello / Maranello) 21st, Ben Hanley (Maranello / Maranello) 24th, Alexander Arrue (Parolin / TM) 25th, Alex Baron (Sodi / Parilla) 26th.
Guillaume De Ridder (Kosmic / Vortex) opened the scoring in the second group when the rain increased. Emanuele Pagani (Tony Kart / Vortex) took up the torch, Laura Koivuluoma (Tony Kart / Vortex) took 3rd and then 2nd, and Jordan Chamberlain (Tony Kart / TM) remained in the lead pack. Pagani improved further. Loïc Réguillon (CRG / Maxter) slammed a time in on the last lap and finished 3rd behind Pagani and De Ridder. Francisco Suarez (Kosmic / Vortex) finally took fourth position ahead of Laura. John Filippi (Exprit / Vortex) completed his session with 8th place, which betrays a lot of progress in the wet.
There were some superstars in the third session with Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla) and Brandon Maisano (Intrepid / TM). Jacob Nortoft (FA Kart / Vortex) was the first leader of this series. Sami Luka (Energy / TM) was briefly at the head of the list, then Jarno Hamppi (Birel / Parilla) improved and maintained his first position. Then Lindsay Butcher (Tony Kart / Vortex) took 2nd place from Jordan King (Birel / BMB), Stefano Cucco (Birel / Parilla) and Sami Luka (Energy / TM). De Vries was touch and go and set the sixth fastest time in a good effort after experiencing a problem during one of his first stops. Michael Heche (Intrepid / TM) does not like the rain and ended still in 13th, and Maisano only 16th. After suffering a breakdown, Pascal Belmaaziz (DR / Maxter) was 26th before Andrick Zeen (Sodi / Parilla). The rain stopped late in the session.
But the rain continued in the last session. Thomas Jager (Birel / BMB) was first at the top from Nicolaj Moller Madsen (Energy / TM). Jager set the best time from Klinkby-Silver before Luke Varley (Tony Kart / Vortex) dislodged him, followed by Luca Ghiotto (Zanardi / Parilla) and Matteo Vigano (RK / BMB). Ghiotto improved a place, but Varley set the best time of the class, 1’16”461. Sinan Van Der Raad (Zanardi / Parilla) was in third position in front of Vincent Fraïsse (Intrepid / TM) who set his time on the last lap. Michelle Gatting (CRG / Maxter) ended on a good pace in seventh position, Moller Madsen 9th, Clement Bluy (Tony Kart / Vortex) in 15th place.
